Biggin Church
Biggin Church The Biggin Church Ruins are the ruins of a church in Berkeley County. The church has been burned 3 times since it was first constructed in 1711. It was the church of the parish of St. John’s Berkeley. The parishes served religious and civil functions in the colony. The first fire was a forest fire. Henry Laurens and William Moultrie worshiped in the new building. The church was used in the Revolutionary War as a depot. The church was burned as the troops retreated. The church was rebuilt again. During the Civil War, furniture was removed and the building was damaged. The building was once again burned in a forest fire. Two walls remain of the church.
